Introduction:Bufotes viridis is distributed in the western half and central of Iran, but there is not much information about the populations located in central Iran. Materials & Methods:In the present study, 39 green toads were collected from the spring of 2021 to the spring of 2022 from Najaf Abad and Aran Va Bidgol regions of Isfahan province. 17 morphometric characters were measured and chromosome studies were performed through bone marrow extraction. Results:The results of the t test showed that there is sexual dimorphism in the studied populations.The results of descriptive statistics for both males and females showed that Aran Bidgol toads are larger in size than Najafabad toadsThe results of the discriminant analysis show that Aran Bidgol and Najafabad toads are largely distinct from each other. Karyological results of Bufotes viridis from the two regions of Najafabad and Aran and Bidgol specified that these toads have a chromosome set of 2n=22. In the toads of both regions, there were 6 large and 5 small chromosome pairs, and in both regions, 3th and 7th pairs of chromosomes were submetacentric and the rest of them were metacentric.Conclusion:The study of populations of green toads in central Iran and its comparison with the populations of the western half of Iran shows intraspecies differences in terms of chromosomes.
